Friday, September 29th, Bettendorf High School will honor five outstanding graduates as new members of the school’s Hall of Honor during a ceremony at BHS Commons.

2017 Hall of Honor Inductees

Kelley Brooke……………........….Class of 1986
LPGA Professional/Administrator largest golf instructional program w/severe disabilities

Elizabeth Gish Matera……………Class of 1984
Clarinetist, “The President’s Own”, United States Marine Band

Gary R. Harvey………….............Class of 1966
Honorable service to America in 40+ years of military and civilian service

Joshua Jacob Wise……….…......Class of 2003
Four military deployments, Purple Heart recipient

Andrew Yohe…………….............Class of 1997
Six time US Sled Hockey team member, three time Paralympian

“The Bettendorf High School Hall of Honor is a testament to the excellence our alumni pursue beyond their high school days and positively impact their career fields and communities,” said Joy Kelly, Principal. “It is an honor to welcome these five honorees back to their alma mater and celebrate this tremendous honor with them and their families. This recognition is also a celebration of the magnificent opportunities Bettendorf High School staff and the entire school community makes possible for all students.”

Bettendorf High School established the "Hall of Honor" recognition program in 1992 to honor graduates who have achieved a noticeably high level of performance in career or profession, influenced the lives of others in some positive manner, and achieved a place of distinction in the area of public or community service.

Nominees must have:

• Graduated from Bettendorf High School more than 10 years prior to the induction

• Achieved outstanding success in his or her career

• Made a significant contribution to the community or to society

• Demonstrated distinction in professional, public, and/or community service

• Demonstrated a positive influence on the lives of others

Plaques are presented to each individual at the induction ceremony during Homecoming week every other year. The engraved plaque containing a photograph and citation for each nominee is posted on permanent display at the high school, 3333 18th St.Bettendorf.
