Congratulations to the Speech and Debate Team for their performance at this weekend's Kennedy Classic tournament. Bettendorf closed out the tournament in Varsity Public Forum Debate with the top 2 teams in the field. Congratulations to: Lilli Ambort, Andrew Del Vecchio, Yash Singh, and Austin Wang.

The girls cross country team placed 4th last week at the DeWitt Invitational. Senior Trinity Borland was the individual champion. The JV team won the meet in a tiebreaker. The boys team won the 15 team invitational with Junior JR Baker and senior Jack Stamper leading the way.

Congratulations to Steve Gottwald on a hard fought 2 rounds of golf at the State Tournament this weekend. Steven shot back to back 79s in rainy and windy conditions. We are proud of his perseverance and grind when it counted most. Congrats!

On Friday the 13th during PRIDE Bettendorf Grad, Matthew Speak, will be talking about his new suspenseful and spooky book series "Bettendorf Tales". Devil's Glen, the first in the series, is available for check out in the library.

Students traveling to Germany next summer with GAPP: Please read your school G-Mail and fill out your information form ASAP if you haven't already done so. Remember that your trip deposit is due by October 13th. Questions? See Frau Steiner in D270.

Students in grades 6 through 12 who are interested in this year's National History Day program should come to the Bettendorf Middle School Library after school Thursday, October 12. At that time this year's NHD theme and club meeting dates will be explained. Contact Deb Temperly at BMS if you have any questions.

Come to meet a local QC hero, Daniel Klopp on Tuesday, (10/10) learn about his experiences in Peru without knowing the language (Spanish), learning and how he found his direction in life. Come and join the UBett Robotics team on Thursday October 12th for a night of trivia in the BHS Commons. The cost is $10 per player and there are 8 people per table. Get your team of 8 together and stop by. Doors open at 6:30 pm and trivia starts at 7 pm. Bring your own snacks! All proceeds go to the UBett Robotics team.

Sign up for “The Doctor is In" PRIDE session on Thursday, 10/12 to talk with Medical Students from the University of Iowa.

Iowa Supreme Court Justice Waterman will visit Bettendorf High School this Friday, 10/13. He will be hosting a Q and A about the Iowa Supreme Court, your civil liberties and the law profession career opportunities in general. This PRIDE offering will be held in the Commons. Attention students taking the PSAT Wednesday, October 11th: Arrive at St. John Vianney by 7:45 am. We will start promptly at 8:00 am. Bring at least two #2 pencil--NO MECHANICAL PENCILS, and an eraser. Also, if you want to use a calculator, make sure you bring an approved calculator, listed on page 26 of your PSAT Student Guide. Cell phones, iPads, or any other electronic device is NOT allowed. Please leave them in your car if possible. Otherwise all will be collected in the testing room. These devices ARE NOT allowed in your possession during any of the testing time. Please bring an ID of some kind with you.

There is an early morning pep rally scheduled for Friday morning (10/9) at 5:45 am on the football field; WQAD will be here doing a live broadcast. Please join us, and let's show the Quad Cities who has the most school spirit!

Looking for more service hours for your club or service letter? Join the S.A.V.E. club in collecting recyclables at the next home football. You get to watch a lot of the game, keep our stadium clear of clutter and help our environment. See Mrs. Sharp in C300 for details.

Do you need some service hours? BHS GAPP is hosting stadium cleanup on Saturday, October 14 at 8:00 am. Check in with Frau Steiner and get some service credit.

German Club meets after school today (10/9) at 3:25 pm to finalize plans for our field trip on Tuesday. Car pool assignments will be made. Don't forget your $3 for admission.

The Speech and Debate Team will be having a team meeting after school today (10/9) in Room D105. We will be discussing our upcoming tournaments, our team picture day, and our parent meeting for our own upcoming Bulldog Invitational event. All members should attend. Thank you.

Scholastic Bowl meets tomorrow (10/10) after school in Room D268, Ms. Conrad's classroom.
