Hornaday to Receive Distinguished Coaching Award

Congratulations to Bettendorf High School Girls Soccer Coach Todd Hornaday for being selected by the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union (IGHSAU) to receive the Golden Plaque Award for distinguished coaching in the sport of soccer. He will be recognized during the state soccer tournament held at the Cownie Soccer Complex in Des Moines on Saturday, June 9th, prior to the start of the 3A championship game.

Of the hundreds of soccer coaches over the years, Coach Hornaday is the sixth to have been selected to receive this honor. Hornaday has been a coach at Bettendorf High School of Girls Soccer for 20 years.

In his years as a coach, Hornaday has compiled a record of 312 wins and 81 losses, won 13 regional championships, 1 state runner-up, and 1 state title. He has been the soccer coach chairman for the Iowa Girls Coaches Association (IGCA) since 2015. He has also been recognized as National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) State Coach of the Year (2010), NFHS National Central Region Coach of the Year (2010), Iowa High School Soccer Coaches Association (IHSSCA) Coaches Hall of Fame (2015), and National High School Athletic Coaches Association (NHSACA) National Coach of the Year Finalist (2017). Hornaday is also a member of the IGHSAU Soccer Coaches Advisory Committee (2010-2015). Many BHS athletes have been impacted by Coach Hornaday over the years and he is very deserving of this distinction.
