Black History Month is an annual celebration of achievements by African Americans and a time for recognizing the central role of blacks in U.S. history. Since 1976, every U.S. president has officially designated the month of February as Black History Month. Other countries around the world, including Canada and the United Kingdom, also devote a month to celebrating black history. In honor of this year’s Black History month, every day during the month of February we will read a daily inspirational quote from some of the most influential black personalities of all time.

Today’s quote is…

"Have a vision. Be demanding." - Colin Powell, the first African American appointed as the U.S. Secretary of State
