The National Youth Science Camp is seeking two Iowa high school seniors to attend the National Youth Science Camp this summer in the mountains of West Virginia and visit Washington, D.C. to exchange ideas with scientists and other professionals from academic, governmental and corporate worlds. This camp includes lectures, overnight outdoor trips into the Monongahela National Forecast, and a trip to Washington, D.C. The students meet scientists and students from across the nation and experience hands-on research projects as part of this life-changing program. The selected delegates must not only demonstrate academic achievement in science, but also show potential for thoughtful scientific leadership. The NYS Camp experience is offered at no cost to its participants. Delegates arrive in Charleston, West Virginia, on Wednesday, June 27, and depart on Saturday, July 21, 2018. Science Club will meet again next Tuesday (2/13) to discuss Field Trip Ideas and Science Olympiad.

Environmental Club will meet after school on Monday (2/12) in room C300.

Forms are available in activities for state wrestling shirts. Orders must be in by NOON on Monday (2/12). Short sleeved shirts are $10 and long sleeve $15. Checks payable to Bettendorf High School.

Harry Potter Club will meet after school today (2/8), in room C300.

Attention NHS members: There is a full membership meeting this Friday (2/9) at 7:45 am in the Old Auditorium. Those interested in participating with the Pennies for Patients committee should plan on staying after the meeting for a brief planning meeting. There is no meeting after school.

FCCLA will be selling Valentine Grams every morning, during lunch and after school the rest of the week in the commons. Stop by to buy some sweets for your sweetie for just a $1 to be delivered on Valentine's day. Make someone's day extra special this Valentine's.

Student council election packets are now out! If you are interested in being part of a group that runs the hunger drive, homecoming, and various other school based activities, pick up an election packet at the activities office today. Packets are due on February 15th.

Black History Month is an annual celebration of achievements by African Americans and a time for recognizing the central role of blacks in U.S. history. In honor of this year’s Black History month, every day during the month of February we will read a daily inspirational quote from some of the most influential black personalities of all time.
