BHS Students Place in IA Top 10 in National French Contest

Ten Bettendorf High School students earned honors for high achievement in Le Grand Concours, the National French Contest. Le Grand Concours is an annual competition sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of French. Students test at different levels and can earn state as well as national placement and awards.

In the state of Iowa,

Level 2E* – Stephanie Rice placed 1st, Emma Hubbard placed 2nd, Rachel Witt placed 3rd.

Level 3 Ayanna Tremaine placed 10th

Level 3E* – Peter Hurd placed 1st, Erica Johnson placed 2nd

Level 4 – Ashley McKim placed 8th

Level 5 – Joshua Turner placed 1st, Mario Soldado-Bermudez placed 4th, Leticia Francisco placed 6th. Joshua Turner also placed 8th nationally.

*Level E indicates that the student has completed that level of French, but at the time of the Concours had not been in French class due to block scheduling.

Twenty-four other students placed in the top 20 for Iowa.
