Canvas Info
Canvas is a district-wide web-based Learning Management System (LMS) with course content and materials for students. Canvas is designed to help parents engage in their students' education and view assignments, events, and grades.
Students
Students must log into their Google account to access their teacher’s courses:
Username: student id + @g.bettendorf.k12.ia.us
Password: bcs + last 6 numbers of their state ID
(the 6 numbers they use for computer login, or last 6 of their Lexia password from the spring)
Logging into Canvas For Students from a Chromebook or Computer:
Logging in with Google: We have enabled Google Single Sign On, which means students can get in through your Google account without a password.
Simply go up to the nine little squares in the corner of your email. Then scroll down until you find the Canvas App and click on it. Your Canvas account will load. No password is required for students!
Parents
Canvas is a Learning Management System that will help your child interact with their schoolwork, manage their assignments, submit homework, and keep track of due dates. Canvas is also perfect for providing you, the parents and guardians, a window into your child’s learning like never before. With Canvas, you will be able to see the details behind your student’s online assignments. This added information will help you guide your child and improve the quality of your communication surrounding school work. Canvas is not a replacement for Infinite Campus. Infinite Campus is still the official source for grades in Bettendorf Community Schools.
In Bettendorf Community Schools, all teachers will be using Canvas with their classes. You can use this guide to help you sign up as a parent.
This parent role is called an “observer” in Canvas. Observers can see all published course information, pages, assignments, and grades but can not submit work or interact with the course. Below is a brief overview of the most common tasks you may need to perform as a Canvas observer.
