Bettendorf High School is devoted to excellence and serves approximately 1,500 students. Students can also attend Edison Academy, the alternative high school program for Bettendorf, Pleasant Valley, and North Scott high schools.
The current high school campus opened in 1973. Through long-term planning and vision, all academic areas of the high school have been renovated with structural and technological updates, creating a state-of-the-art facility. These improvements facilitate unique and comprehensive learning opportunities for all students. The expansive, air-conditioned high school features a landscaped inner courtyard, planetarium, spacious library, and media center instructional area, 1:1 student Chromebooks, a student commons area, and an 840-seat performing art center.
Students at our school follow a block schedule featuring four 75-minute classes each day, along with a 42-minute "Pride" session. During Pride, students can sign up for assistance with classwork, receive informative college information, or enjoy quiet study time. Courses are offered in either 9-week or 18-week formats, allowing students to earn up to 8 credits per year.
Our grading system utilizes a 4.0 scale, with 9-week courses earning .5 credits and 18-week courses awarding 1.0 credit.
All instructors are available for individual assistance before school starting at 7:30 am and after school at 3:30 pm.
Additionally, every Wednesday, we have a 2-hour Early Release for professional development, ensuring our teachers have the support they need to provide the best education possible.
The other activities and athletic facilities include fine arts rooms, multiple gymnasiums, an updated athletic field complex, an Olympic-sized swimming pool, and a fitness/weight training center.
