Congratulations to the Speech and Debate Team for their performance at this past week’s IFL State tournament. The following students returned as finalists:

Katie Baltos - 7th Place in Informative Speaking
Alaina Hernandez and Mary Newman - 6th Place in Duo Interpretation
Ethan Murphy - 5th Place in Spontaneous Speaking
Ellie Winkler - Quarterfinalist in Lincoln-Douglas Debate

In addition, Bettendorf placed 5th in Debate Sweepstakes at the state tournament.

Great job, team! 

March Mammal Madness deadline has been extended until Wednesday. Pick up and drop off your bracket in Mrs. Hansen’s room D313. More info on the tournament here. Last year’s winner was the Shark. BHS winner was Owen Levora. Check out the full BHS leaderboard here.

Upcoming events/deadlines:

  • SENIORS- click this link to buy a senior shirt. There are some other items as well to recognize the senior class! Store is open until March 12th!

  • The 2025 Senior Awards season is upon us.  Please fill out this LINK to be recognized at the April 30th awards ceremony.  The form must be filled out by Monday, April 14th, please see Mrs. Cauwels in Student Services with any questions.

  • Anyone interested in Girls Soccer, leading up to break, we have a preseason camp from Monday to Thursday from 4-5 pm at the TBK sports complex. The dates are March 3, 4, 5, 6, 10, 11, 12, 13. The cost is $10 to cover field rental. If you have any questions, you can reach out to Coach Fank in D264 or Coach Keith in C371.

  • There will be boys soccer open gym in TouVelle Stadium, beginning at 5:15 pm, on both Tuesday, March 11 and Wednesday, March 12.  Any questions, see Mr. Hornaday.

  • Cultural Diversity Club is hosting their Second Annual Black History Month Contest!  This contest is open to all BHS students grades 9-12. Paint/draw/use digital mediums, etc. to create a piece of art that embodies the concept: Threads of Resilience: Weaving Black History into the Future - Highlight the interconnectedness of past, present, and future, highlighting the strength, perseverance, and contributions of Black individuals throughout history. You can choose an area to highlight: Historical figures and movements, Cultural expressions, Personal stories and impact, Symbolism of resilience.   • Conservation Club meets every Monday from 3:30-4:30 in room C302. If you're interested in saving species by planting flowers and testing water quality, or you're interested in going on field trips that include boating on the Mississippi River or hiking through forests, join us!!

  • Chess Club meets every Wednesday after school in the Cafeteria

  • Film Club meets every Friday during PRIDE in Mrs. Mojeiko's room, B210.

  • French Club meets Thursdays after school in room D268. We have snacks!

  • This week, GSA Club will be having their meeting on Thursday, March 13th. Please sign up under Mr. Shoemaker's Pride. That's C Shoemaker, not J Shoemaker!
